The Cosmos Hub is a blockchain that serves as a major economic center of the Interchain, The Hub provides valuable services to the blockchains connected to it, including shared security through interchain security and bridges to Ethereum (ETH) and Bitcoin (BTC).

The Cosmos Hub’s token is ATOM. ATOM is listed on all major exchanges and is the most liquid token in the IBC-connected ecosystem. It is the medium of exchange that enables users to swap into hard-to-buy tokens, lend and borrow to gain yield, and provide liquidity to IBC tokens, in addition to being one of the chief staking tokens in the ecosystem.

The Cosmos Hub also provides Interchain Security as a service. IBC enables Cosmos Hub validators to secure both the Cosmos Hub and other chains. Consumer chains receive the economic security of the full Cosmos Hub validator set, in exchange for a share of transaction fees.
